[sdnog] How to practice Information Security

Hello Sadiq,
        Adding on what Mohamed had said, cyber security field has many
areas of expertise. In a way it's like the medical field, attacks
(diseases) are ever evolving and you will need to be always updated. You
must really love the field and not enter it on a whim or because it is the
hot topic.

With that being said, going for the system and network security track, I
recommend starting with an entry-level course, like CompTIA security+,
which has some of every field. Who knows, maybe you will find another track
you like more.

For the system and network security track, you will need a good
understanding of the system administration for Linux and Windows, and the
best security practices of hardening them. The CIS (center for internet
security) has their benchmarks for hardening OS and services. You can check
them for best practices and the rationale behind everyone of them.
